Jánošíček folklore ensemble
Brno – Czech Republic
The history of the Jánošíček folk ensemble has its beginnings in 1988, and its current organizer is the Association of Friends of the Children’s Folklore Ensemble Jánošíček Brno and the Club of the Defence University in Brno. The members of the ensemble are children and young people aged 5–35 years. Today, it has almost 90 members. It works in three components from a preparatory school for the youngest, through children and youth, to adults. One peculiarity of the ensemble is its program. In spite of its sphere of activities being in the center of South Moravia, the ensemble produces lively Slovak folklore in rich dance choreographies. The material is drawn from various Slovak regions – Myjava, Liptov, Terchová, Horehronie, Detva, Zemplín. The group includes 2 cimbalom bands.
Since its establishment, the ensemble has done a number of successful performances on the domestic scene and has represented the city of Brno at many international festivals around the world. In 2012, the ensemble took part in the international festival “Fétes de la Vigne de Dijon” in France, where it received the award for a high-quality ensemble “Label Fetes de la Vigne de Dijon”. The children’s cimbalom band won the first place in 2015 in the band competition show “Music pieces of Jaroslav Jurášek”. The enthusiasm and temperament with which the ensemble performs its program will surely find their way to your hearts and will entertain you and leave you with an unforgettable cultural experience.
